For years Dan Cunningham has opened his Christmas village with 210 houses, three trains and two trolleys – “lots of moving things” – to the community and for the benefit of charities he supports. The show will go on again this year, opening Dec. 1 from his home at 270 Squantum Drive in Governor Francis Farms. It remains open until Jan. 5. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m., and on Dec. 7 there will be a special visit from Santa with cookies, hot chocolate and pizza made possible by Le Favorite Bakery, the Coffee Grinder and Palazzo’s Deli. Donations from visitors to the display will go to the Semper Fi Fund for injured Marines, A Wish Come True and the Ronald McDonald House. But this will be Dan’s last year of doing the village that he is looking to part with for a reasonable price provided it benefits a non-profit. As they have done in prior years, a group of Pilgrim students helped get the display ready by carting and unwrapping items from storage. The group was there Saturday to do some of the heavy lifting.
