Lawrence F. “Larry” Basara

Lawrence F. “Larry” Basara, 65, of Warwick, passed away on November 13, 2013, at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Roxy J. (Longo) Basara. They were married for 20 years.

Born in Camden, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Erwinski) Basara and the brother of the late Daniel Basara. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy for many years, retiring in April 2002. Larry enjoyed going to classic car shows with his dear friends Jerome and Debbie. He was a kind and gentle man and will be missed by many.

Besides his loving wife, he leaves his uncle, Edward Sobczyk; a cousin, Barbara Shields, and her husband, Dave; sister’s-in-law, Beverly Pari, and her husband, Anthony, Donna Longo, and her husband, Steve; brother-in-law, Joe Longo, and his wife, Nikki; his dear friends, Gerry and Pauline Silvia, and Tom and Cathy O’ Halloran; and nine nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.

Larry’s funeral was held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt. 117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Catherine Church, 3252 Post Road, Warwick. Interment with military honors followed in Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours were on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 5-8pm.
