Leo J. “Jerry” McCrone, of Warwick, passed away peacefully at home on August 16 after a long illness.

He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1933 to Leo & Margaret (King) McCrone. The first of five children, he attended Holy Rosary School and Rider College. He served in the United States Army for 2 years as a tank operator during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Patricia (Doggett), on July 28, 1956. He was a marketing and sales representative for several companies before starting his own company in 1982. He was President of the Warwick Figure Skaters Club and was instrumental in bringing the US Figure Skating Championships to Providence in 1995 as Chairman. A generous man, he gave his time and talents to anyone who asked for his help. His passing leaves a void to all that loved him. Our lives are forever changed, and we are grateful for the love and lessons he has left us with.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, and their three children, Paul McCrone and his wife, Sasha, Patrick McCrone and his wife, Tricia, and Erin McCrone. His legacy began with the birth of his first granddaughter, Ashley, who became more like a daughter to him. It continued with his oldest grandson, Ryan, and his sister Molly McCrone, children of Patrick and Tricia; his personal hero, Alexander, and his brothers Nicholas and Andrew McCrone, children of Paul and Sasha McCrone; and his great-grandson, his “Buddy,” Shaun McCrone, son of Ashley and Shaun Barske.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 22, at 8:30 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. A committal, with military honors, will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are omitted.

Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 20 Hemingway Drive, East Providence, RI 02915.
