Leonard F. “Lenn” Murphy, Jr., 63, died March 29,2013. He was the beloved husband of Christine M. (Furlong) Murphy.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Leonard F. Murphy Sr. and Louise R. (Stamp) Petrella. Lenn served in the United States Marine Corp during the Viet Nam War before receiving a bachelors degree in Psychology from RIC and a Masters in Education from Boston College. He was an inpatient therapist at CODAC House and Marathon House before becoming the Executive Director of the Riverside School residential program where he worked for 20 years. After retiring, he was trained as an Airline Disaster Responder and worked with families after 9-11 through Psych Services of Brockton. Since 2002, he was employed as site supervisor with Shoreline Properties in Warwick. He was a First Degree Black Belt in Shotacon and served on the Board of Directors of Croft House.

He was the father of Erin C. Clifton RN-BSN (Ryan), Timothy A. Grant (Danielle), Sarah A. Tsakalakos (Spero), Jennifer L. Alipui CPA (Michael), and SSgt. Steven T. Murphy US Army (Sarah); grandfather of Grant and Carter Clifton, Elias and Zoey Tsakalakos, Sean Alipui and Colin Murphy; brother of Patricia Murphy and Joseph Petrella.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 3, at 8:30 A.M. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home 2435 Warwick Ave. Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St Rita Church, Oakland Beach Ave. Burial with military honors in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter.
