To the Editor:
We would like to thank Anthony Rodrigues and Lenny Malo for once again planning and running the Warwick Memorial Day Parade. They are tireless and passionate workers trying to keep the spirit of Memorial Day before the public.
This year’s parade seemed to have more spectators than previous years. The returning participants once again seemed to enjoy being a part of this celebration. It would be a shame if this yearly event ceased to exist just when our country has many more young servicemen and servicewomen to honor and remember for their sacrifices.
Funding for the future parades may be in jeopardy. More participants in the parade (where are you, veterans?) could make Warwick’s parade one of the state’s finest. Community and business participation would be a way of showing pride in our veterans.
We are sure that Tony Rodrigues would appreciate hearing from anyone with suggestions or assistance for next year’s parade. He can be reached at 401-919-8951.
