Lillian A. (Norvish) Stetson, R.N., age 94, of Putnam Street, Warwick, died on January 29, 2014 at Scalabrini Villa in North Kingstown. She was the wife of the late Warren L. Stetson.

Born in Middleboro, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Charles and Petronella (Jonsitis) Norvish, she lived on Putnam Street in Warwick since 1950. A registered nurse, Mrs. Stetson was a 1941 graduate of Truesdale Hospital School of Nursing in Fall River. She worked at various hospitals, but primarily served in private duty care for the elderly and children. She was also employed as a lunch aide at Christopher Rhodes Elementary School in Warwick for many years.

Mrs. Stetson actively participated in the Asbury Coasters in Warwick, still kept in touch with her high school and nursing school classmates, and knew how to live life to the fullest. Lillian was always interested in the people that she met, and wanted to know about their families. She remembered their names, and they remembered hers as well.

She is survived by a son, Edward L. Stetson, of North Kingstown, a daughter, Patricia A. Hart, of East Greenwich; and four grandchildren, Christopher S., Kevin C., and Colleen E. Hart, and Brett H. Stetson. She was the sister of the late Pauline Swanson, Augustine Norvis, and Constantine Norvish.

Her funeral was held on Monday, February 3, from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green,Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. William Church, 200 Pettaconsett Avenue, Warwick. Burial was in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. www.woundedwarrior project.org
