Nineteen first graders at John Wickes Elementary School recently made Christmas cards out of construction paper to send to soldiers serving overseas. The project originated on Veterans Day in November and their teacher Jennifer Travison, at right, got the idea to also use it as a means to show students the importance of thinking of others, especially during the holiday season. The cards were sent to Holiday Mail for Heroes via the American Red Cross. Foster Grandmother Gloria Walker is with them, as well.
