Live Jazz at the Boathouse

Some of the finest young jazz musicians in Rhode Island will perform at the Aspray Boathouse on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Paul DiMartino on drums, Chris Gagnon and Ben Shaw on sax, Clay Nordhill on guitar and Matt Passeroni on double bass will bring instrumental depth and breadth to their exciting, original compositions. Jazz vocalist Terri Giviens will emcee.

The idea for the performance was born during the July jazz jam in Pawtuxet Park. Gaspee newcomers Peter Becker and Marina Wong were lamenting the sharp drop in live jazz since last year. The Boathouse immediately inspired the musicians.

Imagining their music filtering out from the Boathouse while fans enjoyed the sparkling harbor lights on the patio proved irresistible. Businesses in Pawtuxet Village and historic Edgewood have enthusiastically promoted the concert.

Boathouse capacity is just 50 patrons, but there is ample space nearby to set up chairs in good weather. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available.

The Boathouse address is 2 East View St. in Warwick. A modest donation of $5 will support the musicians.
