Three members of the CCRI golf team traveled to Chautauqua Golf Club in Chautauqua, N.Y. to compete in the NJCAA Division III Golf National Championship hosted by Jamestown Community College. Since there were only three players to qualify, the Knights will only have individual scores and not a team score in the championship.
The individual scores for CCRI were a 78 for Anthony Lovechio (South Kingstown), which tied him for 13th place, an 82 for Patrick O'Connor (North Kingstown), which tied him for 44th and a 90 for Andrew Schultheis (East Lyme, Conn.), which tied him for 80th.
The top score of the day was a 71 carded by Josh Bialecki from Cincinnati State Technical Community College. The top three teams were Louisburg College from North Carolina with a 314 Minnesota State Technical College with a 315 and Jamestown Community College with a 317.
The Knights have three more days before the championship is completed, and look to continue to climb the leaderboard.
Schultheis will tee off at 9:08 a.m. on day two, while O’Connor will tee off at 9:16 a.m. and Lovechio will tee off at 9:24 a.m.
