Low vision technology fair is today at INSIGHT

INSIGHT, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services for Rhode Islanders who are blind and visually impaired, is hosting a free Low Vision Technology Fair on today from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. at its 43 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, location.

The fair will feature several local and national vendors who will be providing hands on demonstrations of dozens of pieces of technology that are designed to help people with little or no vision live more independently. Items will include video magnifiers, computer software, personal organizers, GPS systems, note takers, and reading devices.

“This is a great opportunity for people to see some of the cutting edge technology that is out there to help people achieve their personal and professional goals,” said INSIGHT Executive Director Chris Butler.

Butler said that all of the technology demonstrations will be “hands on” so that participants can try the products and discuss them with representatives from the manufacturers. INSIGHT staff will also be on hand to answer questions and provide tours of the facility.
