Lydia Caniglia, 96, formerly of Providence, died Wednesday at the Greenwood Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Umberto and Cristina (D’Alfonso) Caniglia. She relocated to Warwick in 2010. Ms. Caniglia was a jewelry designer and for over fifty years owned the Chris Jewelry Company. Her designs were worn by many, including members of the Ice Capades and the Hollywood acting community. She will be always remembered for the weekends when family and friends congregated “down the house” for her pizza, doughboys and meatballs.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Flora Illuzzi, Ida D’Agostino, Minnie Montaquila, Aleda Berger, Umberto Caniglia and Lucy Maxwell.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8 a.m. from the A.A. Mariani and Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins St. Providence. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Friday, 4-6 p.m.
