(Dumb, raunchy road trip)

Matthew McConnaughey is written out of this sequel, so Channing Tatum has to carry the load as Magic Mike, the stripper turned small businessman who is lured into action by his dull, uninteresting buddies for one final hurrah. What follows is a two-hour road trip from Florida to Myrtle Beach in a food truck, culminating in their appearance at the ultimate male stripper convention.

The guys consider themselves male entertainers, not male strippers, but you could have fooled us. They engage in inane conversations as they travel north, stopping off at old stomping grounds to participate in parties attended by screaming women who throw fistfuls of dollar bills at them.

The “dancing” makes Dirty Dancing look like the Bolshoi Ballet, as the team gyrates away with strong suggestive sexual movements.

A stop at a southern mansion that looks more like a brothel and is run by Mike’s old flame (Jada Pinkett Smith) has the team outdancing the local “entertainers.” They move on to another mansion in Savannah, where Andie MacDowell plays an over-sexed older woman interested in more than watching the guys strip.

Their final destination couldn’t come soon enough, as they each do their own performing, dollar bills fly, and the movie comes to an abrupt conclusion. We can assume that they all go back to whatever they were doing before the road trip.

Rated R, with lots of profanity and suggestive sex.
