Combining the worlds of physical theatre, dance, illusion, lights and props, MOMIX is known throughout the world for taking audiences on an artistic journey. This contemporary dance company from Connecticut has performed in 22 countries on five continents.

On Saturday, April 27, MOMIX will delight the audience at Cranston’s historic Park Theatre, transporting the crowd from their everyday lives to a fantasy world through its trademark use of magical lighting and imagery.

Known around the world for their exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty, MOMIX has been under the direction of founder Moses Pendleton for more than 30 years. Combining athletic dance, riveting music, outrageous costumes, inventive props, and pure talent, MOMIX creates an entertaining multimedia experience that’s not to be missed. In recent years, the company has been commissioned by Mercedes Benz, Fiat, Target, and Hanes.

For the group’s Rhode Island show, MOMIX will perform its latest and most ambitious multimedia work to date: “Botanica.” Viewed through Moses Pendleton’s mythic but playful imagination, “Botanica” is a journey through the four seasons that immerses the audience in the natural world. The work features props and costumes designed in part by renowned artist Michael Curry.

MOMIX will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27. Tickets are priced at $35, $45 and $55 and may be purchased by calling the Box Office at 467-7275 or online at www.ParkTheatreRI.com. Additionally, special discounts are available for students of dance schools by calling the Box Office directly.

The Park Theatre is located at 848 Park Ave., Cranston. Free parking is available for all shows.

Built in 1924, the Park Theatre served as a cultural landmark for nearly eight decades until its closing in 2002. Following seven years and nearly $10 million in renovations, the Park Theatre has been reborn as Rhode Island’s newest theatre and performing arts center. As a fully-equipped, state of the art multi-purpose facility, the Park Theatre features concerts, comedy, theatrical performances, opera, dance recitals, children’s and family shows, and more. Through its extensive renovations, the Park Theatre boasts a larger, deeper stage and 1,000 plush seats that feature significantly more legroom between rows than most theatres. The facility also includes the Stage Door Restaurant and Lounge, a pre-show destination that offers a unique environment for guests to indulge in dinners, appetizer offerings and cocktails before a performance. Free parking is available for all events. For more information visit www.ParkTheatreRI.com.
