Madeleine B. (Martin) Downs-Moulton, 97, passed away Friday August 8, 2014 at Home & Hospice Care of RI. She was the wife of the late Warren J. Moulton and Donald Downs.

She was a daughter of the late Charles C. and Maude C. (Webb) Martin. Madeleine was a graduate of the former St. Xaxier’s Academy, class of 1935, and a member of the Warwick Symphony Orchestra, Providence Senior Citizens Orchestra, Old Time Fiddlers and the North Kingstown Swingers. She was a survivor of the 1938 hurricane; her remembrance of the storm has been entered into the RI collection of the Providence Public Library. Madeleine played violin and piano and was deeply religious. It was her love of God, her love of family and passion for music that filled her life with joy.

She was the beloved mother of Mary Anne Snyder, Richard W. Moulton, Janice M. Gemma, Stephen F. Moulton, Lawrence J. Moulton, Elizabeth C. Wait, Marcia E. Laliberte with whom she lived, Leonard T. Moulton and the late Gregory E. Moulton. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Jeanette M. Laliberte; and sister of the late Francis Martin, Charles Martin, Olive Dutson and Elizabeth Beaudoin. Stepmother of Robert Downs, Nancy Cliff, Carolyn Dyer and Richard Downs.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Benedict Church, Beach Ave. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
