A Providence man is facing charges of assault and disorderly conduct following an investigation into an incident at the Subway Restaurant on Narragansett Boulevard.

Cranston and Providence police arrested Jovan Byrd, 21, of Providence at approximately 4:30 p.m. on May 3, according to the Cranston department. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Providence District Court on Monday.

Cranston police responded to the Subway at approximately 9:22 p.m. on May 2 following reports of an altercation between several subjects involving a knife.

Officers arriving at the scene identified a male victim and Diana Oliveira, 22, of Pawtucket, who after further investigation was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, simple assault, obstruction and possession of marijuana.

Based on additional information, Cranston detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Byrd, who was taken into custody without incident after being located at his residence in Providence.
