A man who allegedly threatened the lives of police officers in a Massachusetts community through a Facebook post was taken into custody in Cranston on March 1.
Jerome McIntyre, 31, with no permanent address, was arrested at Harrington Hall following a brief struggle with officers, according to a press release from Chief of Police Col. Michael J. Winquist. At the time of his arrest, McIntyre was found in possession of a knife with a blade longer than three inches.
McIntyre was arraigned March 2 and ordered held for violating the terms of bail on a previous charge out of East Providence. He additionally faces charges of resisting arrest and possession of a weapon other than a firearm (knife).
According to the chief’s release, Quincy, Mass., police received information on March 1 that McIntyre had threatened to shoot and kill officers in their community over a property dispute in which he had been involved. The threats were allegedly made through a posting on the social network.
Quincy police obtained warrants for McIntyre’s arrest on charges of threatening to commit a crime and witness intimidation.
Cranston police, who located McIntyre at Harrington Hall, also found he was wanted on a pair of Rhode Island bench warrants for unrelated incidents.
Quincy police intend to pursue McIntyre’s extradition once his legal matters in Rhode Island have been settled.
