Margaret “Peg” Ann McGrath, a devoted wife and mother, 88, died Thursday, January 8, at the Winchester Medical Center with her loved ones by her side.

Peg was born on February 5, 1926 in Providence Rhode Island to Ward P. Tebbetts and Agnes T. Casey.

In 1944 Peg graduated from Samuel Gorton high school and in 1948 married Edward Francis McGrath Jr. in Warwick, Rhode Island. Peg and Ed celebrated sixty-six joyful years of marriage during which they raised their four children and reveled at the birth of their nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In 1976 Peg and Ed opened MR Real Estate in Vienna, VA. where Peg excelled as a real estate agent and broker winning the NVAR Lifetime Top Producer Award and Top 10 Salesperson Award for the State of Virginia. Peg’s warm smile, capable service and professional integrity characterized her career and won the respect of her colleagues and clients. Peg was a cancer survivor for over twenty years and was an inspiration for many others fighting cancer with her positive attitude and fighting spirit.

Peg is survived by her husband Edward F. McGrath Jr. of Winchester, Virginia; her children, Dr. Kevin McGrath DDS of Oakton, Virginia, Kathi Windsor of Anchorage, Alaska, Tim McGrath of Herndon, Virginia and Jim McGrath of Centreville, Virginia; her nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 15, from 5-8 p.m. at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, January 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Rd., Reston, VA. Inurnment will be private.
