Marguerite Josephine “Peggy” (Dumas) Andresen, 91, of Main Street, died March 14, 2012 at Riverview Healthcare Community.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Leo A. and Margaret J. (Moore) Dumas. She was the loving wife for 62 years of the late Reverend Val Andresen, who was the pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Warwick, for 37 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher and women’s leader. Rev. and Mrs. Andresen also ministered at Antioch Chapel in Johnston and served a wider congregation through their radio program, “Friendship Time,” on WARV. Peggy had a popular spot called “Praise and Poetry with Peggy,” during which she recited inspirational poetry, most of which she wrote herself and published in a book titled “Moments to Remember.”
She is survived by her two sons, David C. Andresen and his wife, Gloria, of Rivervale, N.J. and Richard J. Andresen of Anthem, Ariz.; her daughter, Miriam L. McGrath and her husband, Dennis, of Woodinville, Wash.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She was the sister of the late Violet Reichert, Dorothy Dumas, Theodore, Charles and Douglas Dumas and grandmother of the late Christopher Andresen.
Her funeral service was held March 19 at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick. Burial was in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
