Maria V. "Lena" (Parente) Ogrodnik, 92, of Buckland Rd., South Windsor, Conn., died Oct. 24 at Vernon Manor in Vernon, Conn. She was the widow of Eugene F. Ogrodnik, who died in 1982.
Born in Warwick, a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Luigia (Mancini) Parente, she was a resident of Warwick until moving to South Windsor six years ago. Mrs. Ogrodnik was an accomplished seamstress and dressmaker and worked as a medical secretary for the late Dr. Philip Baron for many years in Providence.
She was a beloved mother and grandmother; she dedicated her life to her family and God. She was a longtime communicant of St. Timothy's Church and served on numerous church committees and care-giving organizations in the community.
She is survived by two sons, Stanley E. Ogrodnik and his wife, Patricia, of Tolland, Conn. and Alan A. Ogrodnik and his wife, Ellen, of Warwick; six brothers, John Parente of West Warwick, Joseph Parente of Warwick, Anthony Parente of Warwick, Larry Parente of East Walpole, Mass., Pat Parente of Little Compton and Sam Parente of Cranston; and a sister, Ursila Senerchia of West Warwick. She was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred Parente and Dominic Parente, and four sisters, Jennie DeCarlo, Amelia Santilli, Lisa Gould and Viola Felice. She also leaves three grandchildren, Susan Ogrodnik-Smith and her husband, Barry, Stacey Terwilliger and her husband, Paul, Stephanie Phillips and her husband, Craig, and five great-grandchildren.
Her funeral was Oct. 22 from Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Timothy's Church, 1799 Warwick Ave., Warwick.
