Mario Crenca, 83, died January 12, 2012. He was the beloved husband for 60 years of Vera T. (Toppi) Crenca.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Umberto and Maria Nicola (Lombardi) Crenca, he had been a resident of Warwick since 1958. Mr. Crenca was employed as a meat manager, starting his career at A&P Market, then to Almacs, Star Market and retiring from Dave’s Marketplace. A Korean War veteran, he served with the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of 1947. He enjoyed woodworking and especially enjoyed helping his children with home projects.
He was the beloved father of Richard J. Crenca, Judith A. Roumelis, Jane M. Conley, David J. Crenca and John W. Crenca. He was the brother of Lena Rotondo and the late Armando J. Crenca, Jack Crenca, Palmera Rossi, Santina Cola and Elena Malaga. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held Jan. 17 at 9 a.m. from Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
