Marion Alice (Nixon) Gagnon, 69, a native of Newfields, N.H., passed peacefully after a long illness January 8, 2012.

The eldest of seven daughters, Marion was predeceased by her parents, Helen Pauline Kenison and Robert E. Nixon, her husband, Albert R. Gagnon, and sisters Pauline Reed, Nancy Blain and Margaret Nixon.

Marion was a graduate of Exeter High School in 1960. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1965, and eventually went on to work in the field of nursing for many years. She enjoyed entering sweepstakes, winning prizes and sharing tips. She has many friends and family who will miss her laughter, smile and sense of humor.

She is survived by three sisters, Deborah Pasno and her husband, Charles, of Exeter, N.H., Dottie Prakop and her husband, Mike, of Hampton, N.H. and Barbara Markson and her husband, Walter,of Dover, N.H. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Dorothy Gagnon of Dover, and the beloved Gagnon family. She leaves behind a loving daughter, Susan and partner Lauren of Warwick; and two sons, Joseph and partner Sonia of West Hartford Conn. and Andrew of Rochester, N.H. She leaves three beautiful grandchildren and is aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Jan. 14 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 25 Third St., Dover, N.H. The family will join everyone for a celebratory gathering at St. Mary’s hall after a private committal service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Park View Nursing Home, 31 Parade St., Providence, RI 02909. Their tremendous kindness and support made a significant difference in our lives.
