Marjorie (Winstanley) Tingle, 74, passed away January 6, 2013 at Kent Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late George Tingle Jr. She met George on a chance meeting at the Rhode Island landmark, Crescent Park and they were married for 47 years.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Harold Winstanley and Ellen (Howard) Winstanley. Marge was a graduate of North Providence High School and was employed for many years at Fleet Blank, retiring in 2001. She was a 50-plus year member of Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church in Pawtucket. She had served with her husband as a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. After retirement, she volunteered at the Pilgrim Senior Center.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl-Lee Muth and her husband, John, of East Providence and Karen Check of Warwick, sons, David Tingle of Warwick and Steven Tingle and his wife, Jessica of Warwick; a brother, Harold Winstanley and his wife, Carol, of Cranston, sisters, Catherine Winstanley of Pawtucket, Ellen Martin of Warwick and Ann Rodriguez of Beaverton, Oregon; and by her seven devoted grandchildren, Caitlin, Catherine, Cassandra, Brittany, Sabrina, Dakota and Brielle. She was “Auntie Marge” to her many nieces and nephews. She was considered a sister by her sisters-in-law in Alabama. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Winstanley and the grandmother of the late Kaydence Tingle.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, January 10, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Information and condolences, visit TheQuinnFuneralHome.com.
