Martha L. (Harty) Cavanagh, age 96, died at her home in Charlestown on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. She was the wife of the late Joseph V. Cavanagh.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John T. and Elizabeth A. (McAloon) Harty, she had lived in Cranston, East Greenwich, Warwick, and was a long-time summer resident of the Quonochontaug section of Charlestown. Martha’s legacy is her family and the faith they share.

Mrs. Cavanagh is survived by five sons and three daughters, Joseph V. Cavanagh, Jr. of Warwick, Rev. David J. Cavanagh of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Kenneth M. Cavanagh of Warwick, Ellen M. Cavanagh of Delray Beach, Florida; Martha M. Haun of Warwick, Robert J. Cavanagh of Warwick, Rosemary Carradini of South Kingstown, and Richard E. Cavanagh of Warwick; forty-six grandchildren; and fifty-seven great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Lucille M. McCrann; and the sister of the late Ellen J. Whitehead, John A. Harty, Lucille M. Murphy, Nathaniel T. Harty, Margaret E. Kenney O’Rourke, and James M. Harty.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, May 12, in St. Paul Church, One St. Paul Place, Cranston. The burial was in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
