Mary L. (George) Barreiro, 88, of Warwick, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family December 14, 2011 at West Shore Health Center. She was the loving wife of Americo Barreiro.

Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late John P. George and Joaquina (Marques) George. Mrs. Barreiro was a jewelry supervisor for several area jewelry companies until her retirement in 1985. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a volunteer and member of the Sunshine Club at the Cathedral of SS Peter and Paul.

Besides her husband she leaves her three beloved daughters, Joan M. Kent and her husband, Steven, of East Greenwich, Susan A. Essex and her husband, Steven, of Warwick and Mary J. Theroux and her husband, Peter, of North Providence. She was the cherished grandmother of Nicole, Mandi, Steven and Peter and great-grandmother of Taylor. She was the sister of the late Modeste George, John George and Joseph George.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 17 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick. Burial in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, will be private. Calling hours were held in Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick.
