Massage Envy raises $2,100 to help prevent arthritis

Massage Envy raised $2,100 during their second annual Healing Hands for Arthritis event. The one-day national event took place at more than 800 Massage Envy clinics Sept. 19, where $10 from every massage and facial was donated to the Arthritis Foundation to benefit the organization's mission to prevent, control and cure arthritis.

“We are so thankful for the incredible turnout we experienced during Healing Hands for Arthritis this year,” said Michael D'Amara, Cranston and East Greenwich, RI Massage Envy Spa owner. “The local Rhode Island community really came out in full force to help make this event a big success. Supporting the local Rhode Island Arthritis Foundation chapter is very important to us and we look forward to next year’s event.”

Today, arthritis affects 50 million adults and 300,000 children. By the year 2030, an estimated 67 million, or 25 percent of the projected total adult population, will have arthritis.

Massage Envy and the Arthritis Foundation share a common understanding about the devastating effects of the disease on the body and the potential for massage therapy to relieve and control certain symptoms. Massage therapy can play an important role in alleviating the pain and swelling caused by arthritis while improving flexibility and circulation, and reducing stress and anxiety.
