Scott School second grade teachers Debbie Johnson and Lesley McDonnell picked the perfect Amelia Bedelia tale for Mayor Scott Avedisian to read to their classes Thursday as part of Reading Week. Amelia is in a race for mayor and finds she is dealing with a lot of idioms such as “filling potholes,” which prompts the observation, “You can’t cook with pots with holes.” The mayor had an attentive audience, including Ava Paplino, who got to listen to the story from a chair so as not to wrinkle her dress. It was also Friendship Day – the next best thing to Valentine’s – at the school. (Warwick Beacon photos)
