Hannah McNulty and the Toll Gate Titans rolled over the Warwick Vets Hurricanes 8-1 at Warwick Vets Stadium on Thursday night.

McNulty scored five goals in the game. Her first was the 100th goal of her high school career. The last was her 50th goal of this season.

McNulty scored her first goal early in the game. The referees were kind enough to stop the match to let McNulty celebrate the 100th goal milestone with her team.

“It feels good,” McNulty said. “I’m really excited. My team helped me through it the whole way. I couldn’t have done it without them.”

McNulty didn’t have it easy on the night either as Warwick goalkeeper Kendra Howard leads the league in saves.

Toll Gate had a missed opportunity when one striker’s shot went off the right goal post but soon after a second goal was scored, this time by captain Elizabeth Costello.

The ball was in Warwick territory most of the first half and Howard was forced to defend a lot of shots. One of her many saves came when she made a stop on a shot attempt from Toll Gate’s Nicole Krause.

During a Toll Gate corner kick in the first half, the Titans managed to get the ball in front of the net but couldn’t score when Howard pried it away. Seconds later, a second corner kick from the opposite side was cleared out of the zone by Warwick captain Carlie McPherson.

Toll Gate had a few more missed opportunities before McNulty scored her second goal to put the Titans up 3-0.

When the Hurricanes finally got a shot on net by McPherson, it was saved by Toll Gate junior goalkeeper Ani Armenakyan.

Next, McNulty came down in front and scooped it past Howard for the score to give Toll Gate a 4-0 lead.

McNulty had another chance soon after but missed wide left. On a Toll Gate corner kick the Titans came up short again when Howard bobbled the ball before grasping it for the save.

But soon after, McNulty received a pass while in front and scored on a breakaway, shooting left past Howard for a 5-0 lead.

Toll Gate’s Emily Ponte increased the Titans’ lead to 6-0. Shortly after, Toll Gate scored again when Morgan Candon received a pass in front from Makenna Dacey to make it 7-0 before halftime.

Freshman Julia Grossi took Toll Gate’s first shot of the second half, but that was saved by Howard. However, the Titans lead would increase to 8-0 when McNulty scored her fifth goal of the game. Then, McNulty took a seat on the Toll Gate bench for the rest of the night.

Autumn Provonsil put the Canes on the board when she scored on a kick from deep midfield making the score 8-1.

“She plays sweeper,” Warwick head coach Keith Randall said. “She moved up today to try and play some forward and she scored the goal.”

Toll Gate head coach Lonna Razza had nothing but love for her opponents.

“It’s a rebuilding year for them but they stayed out there and they ran with us and it’s nice to see that, even though they are getting beat,” Razza said. “It was a good showing for Vets and I’m glad they had a good season.”
