More than $6,000 was raised Monday evening for the benefit of the John Earle Legal Advocacy Fund at a reception at Café Fresco in East Greenwich. Hosted by Mayor Scott Avedisian, the event provided funds to pay for abused women who can’t afford legal representation. The fund is named for John Earle, who was city solicitor and was the husband of Judith Earle, director of the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Cente. The center assists abused and battered women. Here, former Mayor Joseph Walsh and Mayor Avedisian and Judith Earle share a moment. Below, Tom Celona and Donald Morash talk with Amiee Turner. Producing artistic director of the Ocean State Theatre Company, Turner provided tickets to the upcoming season productions that are expected to raise an additional $1,000 for the legal fund.

A very worthy cause. Why wasn't it held in Warwick?
