With 2013 nearing its end, the historic Park Theatre in Cranston is planning for an exciting start to the New Year with the addition of four electrifying performances. As its new season of shows begins to take shape, the Theatre has announced that Michael Bolton, Dr. John, Manhattan Transfer and The Beach Boys will highlight the winter and spring months.
Just in time for the holidays, when show tickets make the perfect gift, tickets for each of these newly-announced performances are now on sale.
One of the most recognizable and successful singer-songwriters of his generation, Michael Bolton’s distinct tenor voice has created some of music history’s legendary soft rock ballads while selling more than 53 million albums. Known for his soulful voice, poignant lyrics, and timeless style, Bolton has been recognized with multiple Grammy and American Music Awards. As a songwriter, his legendary talent has brought him a combined 24 Broadcast Music, Inc. and American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Awards. In 2012, he was named by People Magazine as the “Sexiest Man Alive.”
When Bolton takes the stage of the Park on Feb. 8, fans can expect to be treated to a range of chart-topping hits from his eight Top-10 albums, including blockbusters, “When a Man Loves a Woman,” “Georgia on My Mind,” “Missing You Now,” “How Can We Be Lovers,” and “How am I Supposed to Live Without You?” For his dedication to social activism, Bolton has been honored with several humanitarian awards, including the Martin Luther King Award from the Congress of Racial Equality. His foundation, Michael Bolton Charities, is now in its 20th year of advocating on behalf of women and children at risk.
On Feb. 14, the Park will host a special Valentine’s Day performance by Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dr. John. Following the show, there will also be a Valentine’s After Party at the Stage Door Lounge, located within the Theatre, featuring a DJ and dancing. Universally celebrated as the living embodiment of New Orleans’ rich musical heritage, Dr. John’s unique sound combines blues, jazz, rock and roll and zydeco. After a half-century of creating music for himself and others, including the Rolling Stones, Carly Simon, James Taylor and Neil Diamond, Dr. John continues to write, arrange, produce and interpret with a passion that has yet to wane – dazzling audiences across the globe.
Heading back to the Park following a sold-out show in 2012, Manhattan Transfer will deliver a retrospective on their record-setting 40 years of stellar performances with “The Living Room Sessions” on April 5. Complete with an array of on-stage visuals against a historic slideshow backdrop, the platinum-selling super group who has won 10 Grammys while broadening the musical landscape with their innovative sound is sure to play to a packed house once again.
Continuing to create and perform with the same bold imagination and style that marked their explosive debut over 50 years ago, The Beach Boys come to town on April 13. Having influenced nearly every pop artist over the past four decades, a slew of memorable hits and selling albums by the tens of millions, their Capitol Records release, “Sounds of Summer” and its companion, “The Warmth of the Sun,” marks a resurgence in Beach Boys interest that has again rocked the world.
Led by founding member Mike Love, The Beach Boys continue to play a busy schedule of concerts, averaging 150 shows a year that range from sun-drenched summer festivals to New Year’s celebrations and special events worldwide. Considered “America’s Band,” and listed 12th on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time,” music lovers won’t want to miss a chance to sing along with ageless hits like, “I Get Around,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “California Girls,” “Good Vibrations,” and “Kokomo,” to name just a few.
