Michael P. Friel, 62, of Tucker Avenue, died February 20, 2012 at his home.

Born in Providence, a son of the late James E. and Eileen M. (Kavanagh) Friel, he had lived in Warwick for most of his life before moving to Cranston 14 years ago. Mr. Friel was a teacher and director of the Computer Department at CCRI for 15 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Warwick Firefighters Association.

He leaves a loving companion, Adrienne M. Sorrell of Cranston; two sons, Christopher E. Friel of Warwick and Scott M. Friel of Hudson, Ohio; a daughter, Kerry E. Mueller of Warwick; and five grandchildren. He was the brother of James E. Friel of Coventry, Robert H. Friel and Paul J. Friel, both of Warwick, and Patrick J. Friel of North Providence.

His funeral will be held Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. from Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Timothy Church, Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
