Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum will present the internationally known Miller-Porfiris Duo, in a special concert Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5:00 p.m. The evening begins with wine and hors d’oeuvres, followed by the concert and ending with dessert and coffee and will be held in the parlor at historic Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum.

Tickets are limited to 50 and are $75 per person. Reservations can be arranged by calling Clouds Hill at 884-9490. Proceeds from the evening benefit Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum.

Praised by the press for their “haunting and picturesque” musical interpretations, the Miller-Porfiris Duo has been delighting audiences since 2005.

Anton and Rita met over 20 years ago at The Juilliard School. Their musical lineage can be traced back to distinguished pedagogues and musicians Ivan Galamian, Leopold Auer, Franz Kneisel, Joseph Joachim, and Josef Bohm, who was a close friend and collaborator of Ludwig van Beethoven. In keeping with this pedigree, since its formation, the Miller-Porfiris Duo has given seminars, master classes and concerts at festivals and institutions across the United States, Europe, Great Britain, and Central America. They are associate professors of violin and viola, respectively, at the Hartt School in Connecticut. Committed to expanding the repertoire for violin and viola, in 2010 they commissioned and recorded three new works for violin and viola by living composers of the Americas for their debut CD, “Five Postcards.”

Highlights of the past season include performances of Mozart Symphonie Concertante, Bruch Double Concerto and the rarely played Arthur Benjamin Romantic Fantasy as well as concerts with violinist Jamie Laredo, cellist Lynn Harrell and pianist Joseph Kalichstein. The Duo also enjoys residencies at Duke University, Kutztown University, the Foulger Festival, PointCounterpoint Chamber Music Seminar and Chamber Music in the Mountains in Arizona. Their latest CD, “Eight Pieces,” received critical acclaim in the May 2014 issue of Gramophone Magazine as well as in the August 2014 issue of Audiophile Audition.
