Minds meet at library to noodle topic of the day

Posted

Minds will start meeting again starting April 22 at 10 a.m. at the Warwick Public Library.

Actually, the session is called “meeting of the minds,” and those who participate, talk about life’s big questions. They chew over current events, ethics, philosophy, and more in a relaxed conversation every other Wednesday.

Each session starts with a one-hour discussion of the topics you want to talk about. Then, the group considers the question of the day. Our April 22 meeting will tackle: “Do men and women live in the same world?”

Future questions of the day will include the group ethics exercise “Overfilled Lifeboat: Who do we kick off?” and discussions of “Government Paternalism: The common good vs. individual rights” and “Would living forever be an unconditional good?”

Pick up a short essay about the question of the day at the library’s Welcome Desk, and drop in for an eye-opening session.

Meeting of the Minds gathers bi-weekly on April 22, May 6 and 20, June 3 and 17, and July 1, 15 and 29 from 10 a.m.-12 noon.

For more information, call 739-5440 x221. The library is located at 600 Sandy Lane. This event is free and open to all.

I am glad they have this during the day because you wouldn't want someone who works for a living or isn't retired to participate.
