Music on the Hill festival debuts Thursday with Mozart selection

Music on the Hill hosts its Annual Music Festival Series featuring prominent musicians who have come from or currently live in Rhode Island starting this Thursday.

This year’s music festival (June 13-21) is comprised of six concerts. The festival’s concert series reaches across the state from Providence to North Kingstown, with programs that explore sounds from Europe and America in the 1600s, 1700s, 1800s, 1900s and 2000s.

Music on the Hill will unveil some exciting pieces, present many familiar works by the most recognized composers and bring back its signature Culinary Concert on June 13 (first course: wine tasting with tantalizing appetizers, second course: music, third course: an assortment of desserts with coffee).

The final program on June 21 will offer the rare opportunity to hear world-renowned artist Joseph Kalichstein performing two piano concertos in one concert.

A unique feature of Music on the Hill is the fact that most of the artists are returning home to Rhode Island. The fact Rhode Island has valued and invested in arts education is evident at each and every Music on the Hill concert. Tickets are $20 at the door.
