NEIT awarded $120,000 Davis grant for faculty development

New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) has been awarded a one-year grant in the amount of nearly $120,000 to be used for faculty development. The grant was received from the Davis Educational Foundation established by Stanton and Elisabeth Davis after Davis’ retirement as chairman of Shaw’s Supermarkets, Inc. The Davis Educational Foundation is located in Yarmouth, Maine.

The funds will be used to strengthen teaching methodologies to 20 NEIT faculty members. The project is entitled, “Faculty Development Symposium-Integrating the Liberal Arts across the Curriculum: Communication and Quantitative Reasoning for Lifelong Learning and Success.” The project will be implemented from July 2012 to June 2013 and led by Co-Directors Dr. Robin Schutt, department chair of Humanities/Social Science, and Thomas Thibodeau, assistant provost and director of Distributed Learning, at New England Tech.
