NEIT veterinary technology program gains provisional accreditation

Posted

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), headquartered in Schaumburg, Ill., has awarded provisional accreditation to New England Institute of Technology’s Associate in Science degree program in Veterinary Technology. NEIT is the only college in Rhode Island offering an accredited Veterinary Technology program.

New England Institute of Technology was one of 10 new programs granted accreditation, bringing the total accredited programs nationwide to 218. This accreditation will remain in effect until the next site visit scheduled for 2018.

According to Douglas Sherman, senior vice president and provost at New England Institute of Technology, “Earning and maintaining our AVMA accreditation status is important to the students, to the faculty and to the college. Our Veterinary Technology Department Chair, Associate Professor Darlene Jones, DVM, along with the faculty and staff, have done an exceptional job in attaining this important accreditation for our Veterinary Technology program.”
