Naming her successor

Mayor Scott Avedisian didn’t waste any time Tuesday after learning that Judy Wild had considered and would accept the appointment as city clerk to succeed Marie Alhert; accompanied by Alhert, he walked over to the department and announced the news to the staff. Avedisian noted that there was a time when the clerk’s post was more of an honorary position, but that today the clerk is involved in many phases of running the office. “She has done a little bit of it all,” Avedisian said of Wild, who has been in the department for 23 years and is currently administrator of probate court. The transition won’t happen all at once. Alhert will leave the post on June 19 and soon thereafter commence a long-planned cross-country trip with her husband. In the meanwhile, Wild will serve as deputy city clerk and pick up all the pointers she can from Alhert, who has the office running like a clock. From left, Wild, Avedisian and Alhert talk to the office staff.
