Nancy (Melillo) Matarese, 88, passed away peacefully November 12, 2011 after a short illness. She was the loving wife of the late Giro "Gino" Matarese.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Maria (Palumbo) Melillo. Nancy was well known by many for her fabulous egg biscuits. She was a great hostess, and one never left her home hungry.
She was the devoted mother of Steven Matarese and his partner, Joseph Amaral, of Revere, Mass., and the late Dr. Phillip Matarese. She also leaves her cherished grandsons, Matthew, Brandon and Aaron, and daughter-in-law Gwenneth Matarese. She leaves her brothers, Frank Melillo and wife, Elena, of Hopkinton and Anthony Melillo and his wife, Delores, of Johnston; and a sister, Rose Marsocci and her husband, Robert, of Warwick. She was the sister of the late Mena Sukaskas and Anna Moscarelli. She was the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews and left many friends.
Her funeral will be held Nov. 18 at 8:45 a.m. from Woodlawn Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. William's Church, Warwick.
