Nathan E. Nelson, 58, of Warwick, died December 22, 2011 after a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Kittell) Nelson for over 38 years.

Born in Fort Hood, Texas, he was the son of Katherine (Oliver) Nelson of Wakefield and the late William Nelson. Nathan was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island (class of 1978), worked for JT O’Connell, Inc. in a variety of positions for over 30 years, and was a lieutenant and life member of the Snug Harbor Volunteer Fire Department and volunteer member of the South County Ambulance and Rescue Corps.

Nathan was the proud father of Ashley Nelson, of Newport, Maine and Summer Arrigo-Nelson and her husband, John, of Pittsburgh, Pa. He is survived by his brother, William Nelson of Ebersdorf, Germany, and two sisters, Ann Nelson-Hartnett of Coventry and Leslie Hanson of Escondido, Calif. Nathan will also be missed by his grandson, Milo Arrigo-Nelson.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 350 Fair St., Warwick, in the lower sanctuary (fully accessible).
