Hobby Lobby Stores, a privately held national retail chain of arts and crafts stores, opens its first location in Warwick with a ribbon cutting ceremony and official grand opening celebration Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. Connie Privette is the store manager of the 54,000 square-foot retail facility, located at Bald Hill Road and College Hill Road.

The store’s grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is open to the public. Local dignitaries, ambassadors from the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce and other business leaders will be on-hand to help with the celebration.

“We are very excited to bring our family-oriented store to the Warwick crafts and home décor community. We look forward to giving customers a unique and enriched experience, coupled with quality merchandise, and exceptional value and selection,” said John Schumacher, assistant vice president of advertising, in a statement.

Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., headquartered in Oklahoma City, Okla., started as an outgrowth of Greco Products, a miniature picture frames company founded in a garage by David Green in 1970. Today, Hobby Lobby has more than 500 stores across the nation that average 55,000 square feet in size. This major Oklahoma City-based private corporation offers more than 65,000 crafting and home décor products in its stores. Departments include floral, fabric, needlework, picture framing, baskets, home accents, arts and crafts, wearable art, jewelry and scrapbooking supplies. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and all Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sunday.

This is an awesome store. Look for arts and crafts classes there coming in October and November for kids and adults. Check out their website at hobbylobby.com and click on the Warwick store location. The staff is friendly, and the products are amazing!
