Rep. Eileen S. Naughton (D-Dist. 21, Warwick) chairwoman of the Special Legislative Commission to Assess and Make Recommendations on the Educational Needs of Children with Dyslexia and/or Reading Disabilities, invites Rhode Islanders affected by dyslexia to present testimony at a public hearing.
The hearing will take place Wednesday, April 20, at 10 a.m. at the Warwick Public Library, 600 Sandy Lane, Warwick.
This commission includes members of the Rhode Island Department of Education, the dyslexia advocacy community, educators, a psychologist, parents and elected officials.
Representative Naughton is calling on the public to present testimony on their experiences with dyslexia in public education. In an attempt to hear from as many people as possible, spoken testimony will be limited to three minutes. Written testimony can be sent to Lindsay Ferranti at lferranti@rilegislature.gov.

"...present testimony on their experiences with dyslexia in public education..."? Huh? Federal Public Law 94-142 has mandated a free and appropriate public education for kids with dyslexia since 1975. Rep. Naughton is about 41 years too late in turning this into an archaic political issue.
