New England Institute of Technology is hosting TechArts, an art exhibit showcasing the talents of its students, faculty and staff. The public is invited to visit the library at NEIT’s East Greenwich Campus located at 1408 Division Rd. from April 5 to May 25 and enjoy more than 100 creative works on display. All types of fine art and applied art will be exhibited, including drawings, sculpture, photographs, paintings, handmade furniture, costumes, watercolors and more.

TechArts began as an art installation in 1995 offering the college community the opportunity to share their creativity. The concept of TechArts resurfaced in 2004 when a committee of faculty and administrative staff members became fully committed to keeping this tradition alive as an annual event. Art will have a permanent place in the college’s new 27,000-square foot library. Some of the student work on display is a product of the art-related courses offered at NEIT.

The New England Tech library is open Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All entries may be viewed at library.neit.edu/Special/TechArts2012/Catalog2012.htm. For more information, contact Susan Warthman, MLIS, AHIP, director of the Library and Information Commons, at 401-739-5000, ext. 3553 or swarthman@neit.edu.
