New menu at Theatre 82’s ‘Character’s Café’

You can now enjoy “Dinner and the Theatre” at Cranston’s Theatre 82 & Café” at 82 Rolfe St. in Cranston. You can also partake of breakfast and lunch, with a full menu that features creative cooking (and names) for their large and varied offerings. And the prices are very reasonable.

The breakfast menu features “The Drama Queen,” which includes hash brown egg nests with bacon, cheese and a side of guacamole for only $6.95. For the same price you can order “The Plot with a Twist,” a fun twist on French toast stuffed with cream cheese and topped with a blueberry compot and tossed in cinnamon.

Lunches include appetizers (excuse, me “Pre Show”) of stuffies, pita chips and hummus, nachos, buffalo wings and sweet potato fries. We sampled the Buffalo wings with blue cheese and celery (8 for $6.95) and the pita chips and hummus, which included celery, carrot sticks, kalamata olives and pepperoncini ($6.95), plus the nachos with salsa, chili, cheese, guacamole and sour cream ($6.95). All ingredients were freshly made and impossible to stop noshing. Salads and soups are freshly made. At the open house we were treated to a delicious pumpkin soup.

Star sandwiches are served with fries, fruit or a side of the day, and include a 100 percent 8 oz. ground sirloin burger for $6.95 and my favorite, The Standing “O,” turkey breast, savory stuffing, whole berry cranberry sauce and mayo ($7.95).

Whether going to a show or participating in the many wonderful activities at the Artists’ Exchange, a trip to the Character’s Café is a pleasant and “tasteful” experience.
