Nick Cerbo is this year’s recipient of the St. Timothy Award sponsored by the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry and the Diocese of Providence.
Nick has shown outstanding Christian leadership throughout his four years as a student at Bishop Hendricken. He has attended several mission trips and participated in the 40th anniversary of the pro-life march this past winter in Washington, D.C. He is also an active member of the youth ministry team at his parish, St. Philip’s in Greenville. Nick is a compassionate, humble and honorable man, who always behaves with respect and grace. He displays the highest moral integrity at all times and has a deep faith.
“Learning more about God, getting involved in meaningful experiences and having such great role models around me has changed my life. Perhaps it’s not about what we do or where we go, but who we become and how we affect those around us that matters the most,” he said.
Nick will attend St. John’s University in the fall and has been accepted into the Catholic Scholars Program, continuing his faith-based activities while studying abroad. He will major in psychology with plans to ultimately obtain his doctorate degree in this field, with a concentration in international social justice. “I am aware that it is the role of each individual to provide service to the vulnerable, as a priority before oneself. Making a difference toward the common goal of human solidarity on a community and global level is a path that I have been committed to, and will not abandon.”
