Police and firefighters were dispatched to Oakland Beach Avenue on Tuesday after a fire broke out at 490 Oakland Beach Ave. around 10:30 a.m.

Firefighters determined that there was no one in the house at the time. Warwick Police directed traffic around the scene of the fire while Warwick Firefighters doused the fire. Firefighters stayed at the scene while an arson investigator was called to the scene.

According to Major Raymond Gallucci, it is routine to call investigators to the scene and they have no reason to believe it was a suspicious fire. Two dogs displaced by the fire but apparently unharmed were taken to the shelter for safekeeping until their owners could be found. (Information provided by Warwick Police Department)

I hope you folks at the Beacon have it right but another account at a different media outlet says three dogs perished in this fire.... I felt better after reading this but how did the facts get bungled like this.

Unfortunately three dogs did perish in this fire. Very sad day for this couple. Not only did they lose all of their belongings but their three dear family pets.
