Liz Noren of Warwick has been named to the Board of Directors of the Junior League of Rhode Island, Inc. (JLRI). She will serve as communication council director under the presidency of Nancy Serpa.

Noren joined the Junior League in 2005, and has held several leadership positions during that time. She has chaired the PR Committee and the Project Committee, and has served on the Board of Directors in the capacity of community service council director. As this year’s communications council director, she is responsible for overseeing League communication via electronic and printed publications, organizing general membership meetings and executing all publicity efforts.

Noren graduated from George Washington University with a BA in English. She has earned graduate degrees in education from Rhode Island College and Bridgewater State. She teaches at Warwick Veterans Memorial High School.

JLRI has been a volunteer powerhouse in the state of Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts since 1921. JLRI is a proven training ground for women to become community and civic leaders learning how to effectively manage a non-profit organization, fundraise and develop meaningful community service programs.

In its 92-year history, more than 250 nonprofit organizations have benefited from collaborating with JLRI, and JLRI members have contributed more than 1 million hours of volunteer service and over $1.5 million in fundraising. These volunteer hours and dollars have a combined present day value of $25 million in direct services to women and children in difficult circumstances. Currently, JLRI’s focus is to empower the lives of young adults aging out of the Foster Care System.
