To the Editor:
In Tuesday’s Warwick Beacon profile of candidates for Ward 7’s council seat, I take exception to a statement attributed to me saying that it was a “good idea to make pay raises for municipal workers few and far between.”
Why would I support such a position? I worked for the Warwick Police Department for 34 years and never did I wish for a “few and far between” pay raise to support my family.
During my interview, I made a point of saying that when municipal workers recently made concessions to the city because of our economic conditions, the city should be looking to develop a future blueprint to return those givebacks and/or pay raises to municipal workers when the city is in a position to do so.
I would also like to make a second correction. I have a Master’s Degree in the Administration of Justice from Salve Regina University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Rhode Island.
I hope this clarifies my position.
