(Caper film goes

downhill fast)

”Now You See It” grabs your interest before the credits, as the audience is introduced to four magicians/con men (and a woman), doing their thing and fascinating large street crowds.

The four are mysteriously summoned to an empty apartment, where they are themselves conned into banding together as the Four Horsemen and pulling off incredible, illegal capers.

Woody Harrelson plays the mind reader, and Jesse Eisenberg the cocky street magician. Isla Fisher and Dave Franco round out the team. They fill the MGM Grand with a lot of hype and an act that defies logic: robbing a bank vault in Paris.

An FBI man (Mark Ruffalo) joins with Interpol woman (Melanie Laurent) to try to figure out what is going on, as the Four Horsemen move to New Orleans and pull an even more outrageous trick, transferring large amounts of cash into audience members’ bank accounts. It gets even more ridiculous from there, leading to the third and final caper.

Michael Caine plays their financial backer, while Morgan Freeman plays a mysterious man who is out to debunk their tricks.

Who is behind all of this and why is the question that is finally answered in such a ridiculous way that it spoils all of the clever illusions.

Rated PG-13, with some profanity.
