St. Rose of Lima School students learned about healthy eating Wednesday from a chef and the mayor. Rich Silvia, who is the chef at the White Horse Tavern in Newport, prepared fresh salsa and guacamole, which was served up on chips for the kids. Soon after, with the smell of onions lingering, Mayor Scott Avedisian read the book, “Is your Hair Made of Donuts?” written by Joy Feldman, to the entire school. And in keeping with the theme, pre-schools made paper vegetable and fruit hats.
