Ocean State Theatre Company announces auditions for Teen Company

Ocean State Theatre Company announced open auditions for its OSTeenCo program, which provides an opportunity for teenage actors to benefit from a professional theatre experience, culminating in the performance of two productions, which are included in the lineup for OSTC’s 2015-16 Family Fun Fest. This season’s OSTC4Kids productions are the literary-based musicals Yes, Virginia scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2015 and James and the Giant Peach scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 2016. Both shows will be performed at Ocean State Theatre in Warwick at 11:00 am. Needed are 10 to 12 performers (male and female) between the ages of 13-18 years old, at the time of the audition.Performers selected to be company members will need to be available for evening and weekend rehearsals and performances from September 16, 2015 through March 5, 2016. A detailed schedule will be available at the audition. Selected performers will also need to be available for technical rehearsals and/or public performances to be scheduled during the day on Thursday, December 10, 2015, Friday, December 11, 2015, Thursday, March 3, 2016 and Friday, March 4, 2016, as well as performance days. A complete calendar will be available at the audition.

Auditions will be held on Monday, September 14 and Tuesday, September 15 from 6-9 p.m. at Ocean State Theatre, 1245 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick. Those auditioning should enter through the main lobby doors and bring their headshot or a recent photo and resume (if available). Actors should come with a short prepared song with sheet music from a musical (no Jason Robert Brown, please). No a cappella, tape recorders or CD players. Accompanist will be provided. Those auditioning should also prepare a short memorized monologue. Those asked to stay, may learn a short dance combination and/or be asked to do cold readings from the script. Please bring or wear appropriate shoes for dancing. Sign-ups will begin at 5:30 p.m. Those intending to audition must be signed up prior to 7:30 p.m.
