To the Editor:

The United States is at the edge of a cliff, financially. I can’t understand why our elected officials didn’t see this coming. Don’t they have any bookkeepers or accountants on their staffs? I worry about the public’s reaction if Social Security checks are reduced, delayed or eliminated. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.
